BOLIVIA

Here I am. LaPaz, the capital  of Bolivia and located at the highest altitude in the southern hemisphere at 3660 meters
Arrived here at about 5am Sunday morning after a stopover in Paraguay. Stuck for almost 2 hours there with no access to food or drinks. Hit the bed straightaway - what a nice bed after all my other beds so far. Got up about 11 am, showered and took a walk around the neighbourhood. The streets were crowded with vendors, people and cars.It gets close to a jostle on the pavement and dodge a car. No stop signs again- they just give way. After some walking, it became clear that the city is build up a mountainside - steep down streets and steep up streets. Every street specialises in a specific product range - some streets sell fruit and vegetables, some clothing, some personal and homecare products, some meat and fish. And this is all in front of regular shops. It is cheap here. A bottle of Coke is R4.00 and R3.00 for two pie products. A restaurant around the corner sells fixed menu food for R15.00 and it includes a starter.

Not sure what I will be doing tomorrow. Will discuss with hostel tour agency, but there certainly is a number of options.
