BOLIVIA - TIWANAKU

Bolivia's most important archaeological site,Tiwanaku is situated about 70 km from La Paz. Its origin is traced back to about 600BC and consensus is that they were the cultural forerunners of the Inca.
Excited to see these ruins and their reconstruction, I was disappointed on arrival to see how little ruins and how little reconstruction there were in fact. When I asked the guide about it,he told me that excavation and reconstruction started in 1925 and maybe they would complete the big temple in another 5 years time. Not likely I think if you see what they have achieved in85 years.Money seems to be the problem.
However the museum was very informative and our guide passionate about his subject.
Below photos of the site

And snow capped mountains on the way there and back

La Paz, looks quite interesting and the mountains look beautiful, but the Tiwanaku does not look too interesting though....so where to next?? Hilton
