CHILE - LA SERENA

Enduring an 18 hour bus ride from Iquique to La Serena I arrived here at 11.30 am Thursday, 29th July. And stepped out into a foggy and cold La Serena - no beach weather here today! Booked in to Paza de Punto, a German run hostel and yes, everything nice and working. A stop over here for me to Santiago, not much to see. In fact it lives up to it's name - serenity. Took a stroll around town and yes, the Plaza de Armas. just another coastal Chilean town.Visited two pubs that evening, but nobody understood a word I was saying. So frustrating! What to do the next day!
They have outlying tours to a wine producing valley ( more famous because of pisco) and an astromony observatory - situated here because of the clear skies all year around. But just another tourist hook. And I aint no fish no more.Saing my money for Santiago. So with that in mind took a stroll to the bus terminal and bought a ticket for Santiago. Leaving 12.05 pm  31/7 and around a seven and a half hour trip.
But some photos to colour this page.

One of the walkways in the town. Can see winter set in here too. Below pictures from a Japanese Garden.

As expected, the beach in winter.
A defunct lighthouse on the beach.
So all in all, a disappointing town for me.Not writing it off - spend too short a time there.Let's see what Santiago holds.
